Energy is the unit of power for your interactions in the app. Whenever you interact with Phi or any AI-powered features, Energy is consumed.
Energy is consumed when:
- You send a message to Phi (based on the message/conversation length, AI model(s) used, number of web searches, and response size).
- You attach a file (PDF, text, images, Apple Health data) along with your message.
- You generate images or other content (based on the content size).
- You can check the amount of Energy from Settings in your mobile app.
Approximate Messages
The table below shows estimates of messages you can exchange with Phi by Energy amount and AI model. The exact number of messages may vary based on factors like updates in message length, model pricing from AI providers, or settings such as custom instructions.
| Energy Amount | OpenAI GPT-5.5 | Anthropic Claude Sonnet 4.6 | Anthropic Claude Opus 4.7 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1B | 23 messages | 40 messages | 24 messages |
| 5B | 115 messages | 200 messages | 120 messages |
| 10B | 230 messages | 400 messages | 240 messages |
Note: These numbers are based on an input length of 7,000 tokens (inclusive of any system and custom instructions for the AI) and an output length of 250 tokens per message, using prices provided by the AI providers as of 04/29/2026.
You can check the Energy consumption of each message in the "Energy" dashboard under "Settings" on the mobile app or in the Energy page on the website.
